It is backed by two of the largest and most powerful unions in the country: 32BJ Service Employees International Union and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. 32BJ SEIU Service Employees International Union is a union of 175,000 janitors, security officers, airport workers and others in districts across the East Coast, including 20,000 members in Massachusetts and Rhode Island is the largest property services union in the country. 32BJ is part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) an organization of two million members. SEIU has been at the forefront of the national gig workers organizing movement, teaming up with gig workers nationwide who are fighting to improve their jobs and transform the industry. Gig workers are organizing with SEIU in California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Minnesota to demand better wages, accountability from the rideshare companies, safety measures, and more.
